What does research show?

Foam, silicone, wax and reusable designs

NRR and SNR are not interchangeable
Attenuation ratings such as NRR and SNR come from different standardized methods. They are useful indicators but do not equal the exact reduction you personally achieve in bed. Real-world fit matters.
Side-sleep comfort matters
If you sleep on your side, a plug that protrudes far from the ear may press into the pillow. External profile and softness can therefore matter as much as the maximum laboratory attenuation figure.
Hygiene and safety
- follow the manufacturer’s cleaning and replacement instructions;
- do not insert dirty or damaged plugs;
- stop if you develop pain, irritation or discharge;
- consider whether you need to hear alarms, children or safety signals overnight.
